The Bradley Method
The Bradley method approaches natural childbirth through prenatal education, relaxation techniques, and partner participation. The goal of Bradley method training is to ensure a safe birth with reduced pain and anxiety.
Couples are taught how they can work with their bodies to reduce pain and make their labors more efficient. Bradley method classes educate and motivate coaches and make them a valuable part of the birth experience.
Bradley method classes cover prenatal nutrition, exercise, ways to be more comfortable during pregnancy, complications, cesarean sections, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and infant care. Classes cover ways to reduce the need for an episiotomy, ways to avoid a cesarean, ways to cope if a cesarean is necessary, and what the coach should do if the baby is born before arrival at the hospital.
More than 86% of couples who use the Bradley method have natural childbirth without medication.
Parents are encouraged to take initial "early birth" classes. Weekly classes begin in the sixth month of pregnancy. The course covers:
- The Bradley method's history, goals, and philosophy.
- Prenatal nutrition.

- What to expect during labor and delivery.
