- Graduated from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in 1981
- Practiced full scope nurse-midwifery for 9 years.
- Master’s in Nursing Science from the University of Louisville School of Nursing, 1995, and acquired post master’s certification in adult psychiatric nursing in 2003.
- Twenty-two years of service with the University of Louisville Dept of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health
- Three years of practice with the University of Louisville Psychiatry Dept.
- Teaches, consults, lectures and publishes on the treatment of mental health during pregnancy and postpartum
- Completed the Mind/Body Infertility Professional Training Program with Alice Domar PhD, 2005
- Licensed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing to prescribe medications and provide psychotherapy
